DAMAX Solutions conducted a comprehensive stakeholder perception assessment to examine how communities and institutional stakeholders perceive the operations, environmental performance, social investments and stakeholder engagement practices of Geita Gold Mining Limited.
The study covered 33 mining-affected communities in Geita and engaged regional and national stakeholders across six regions. Using a mixed-methods design, the assessment combined household surveys, community leader interviews, key informant interviews and focus group discussions.
The analysis applied composite indices measuring Social Licence to Operate, Stakeholder Trust and Environmental Confidence, alongside statistical modelling to identify factors influencing community perceptions, trust and relationships with the mining company.
The study generated actionable evidence on community expectations, perceived benefits and concerns, communication gaps and opportunities to strengthen stakeholder relationships.
Findings informed recommendations for improving GGML's stakeholder engagement, environmental and social performance and long-term sustainability strategy.
